Hong Kong BBQ House mainly offers roasted meat including duck, pork, & chicken prepared Hong Kong style. That means most of the dishes are freshly marinated and roasted with various kinds of herbs and spices every day. Alfred CHAN, who is the chef of Hong Kong BBQ House, loves eating and cooking. In 2015, after retiring as a civil servant of HKSAR, he studied in the Chinese Culinary Institute (中華㕑藝學院) and earned a Certificate in Guangdong Cuisine (粵菜烹飪証書) and a Certificate in Guangdong Barbecue Preparation (粵式燒味証書). He has worked at several famous restaurants in Hong Kong including Maxim’s, Tai Hing, and Café de Coral.
Alfred’s family moved to Prince Edward Island, Canada in August 2017, so his 3 children could receive better education. He finds that while there are a lot of restaurants providing quality Chinese food on the island, he still wants to provide one more choice for people who love Chinese food, so he founded the Hong Kong BBQ House in June 2018.
Alfred’s vision is to provide quality fusion (Chinese + Western) dishes in Prince Edward Island, and if possible, he wants to study in the Culinary Institute of Canada to improve his cooking skills in preparing western cuisine in the future.
Hong Kong BBQ House also has a corner providing quality handcrafted coffee and handmade cakes to customers. This corner is managed by Angel CHAN, who is an accredited barista (City & Guilds) and certified in Latte Art and Cake Making (Tart & Pie and Dessert & Pastry). She has worked as a barista in Lucullus (Hong Kong).
